Periodontitis is an infectious disease triggered by periodontal pathogenic bacteria and is characterized by pocket formation and attachment loss, ultimately affecting tooth survival. During the last decades , various treatment modalities such us the use of different bone grafting materials , guided tissue regeneration (GTR), enamel matrix derivative (EMD),or combination thereof, have been used to predictably regenerate the lost tooth’s supporting tissues including root cementum, periodontal ligament, alveolar bone and gingiva. The aim of the present lecture is to evaluate the treatment of intrabony defects using different regenerative procedures.
